Baby naming ceremonies

Welcome a child into their family, their community and their story.

A naming ceremony celebrates birth and belonging. It also gives the people who love a child the chance to make a gentle promise of support for the years ahead.

A joyful welcome

A name is only the beginning.

I have led naming ceremonies that brought generations, cultures and languages together around a child. They can be full of warmth, laughter and the lovely unpredictability that comes whenever small children are involved.

The ceremony might tell the story of how your child arrived in your lives, explore the meaning of their name and formally welcome them in front of the people who love them most.

A naming ceremony can be a non-religious alternative to a christening or baptism. It can also include prayers, blessings or spiritual traditions when they matter to your family.

Naming ceremonies are also a beautiful way to welcome an adopted child or stepchild and honour the family you are creating together.

The people around them

Celebrate the village that will help them grow.

1

Parents' promises

Speak about the values, love, humour, courage and sense of home you hope to give your child.

2

Guiding adults

Invite grandparents, godparents or other chosen people to promise their presence, wisdom and listening ear.

3

Family stories

Include readings, memories, music, cultural traditions or the stories that connect one generation to the next.

Meaning you can see and share

Create a ritual that belongs to your family.

A candle can remember somebody whose love remains part of the family. In a sand blending ritual, two or more people pour different coloured sands into a keepsake vase, creating one design from their separate contributions. You might plant a tree, create a keepsake, sign a commemorative certificate or invent something entirely your own.

I’ll help you choose words and moments that feel natural rather than formal for formality's sake. The ceremony can be in English, Spanish or both, with care taken so everyone feels included.

What comes next

From the first call to the day itself.

We talk first

A telephone call or a video call, whichever suits you. I explain how it all works and you ask me anything you like. Nothing to pay, nothing to commit to.

You reserve your date

With a deposit of €200.

I send you the ceremony questionnaire

Where you tell me everything you imagine for your day.

I write your ceremony

And we shape it together until it is right.

I am beside you the whole way through

By telephone, WhatsApp or email, all the way to the day.

Pricing

From €675, including 21% Spanish IVA (VAT).

Every ceremony I write is bespoke, so there is one price to start from rather than a set of packages to decode.

A second language, travel beyond an hour from Moraira, and a printed order of service are quoted on top, and I will tell you exactly what yours comes to before you commit to anything. A deposit of €200 reserves your date.

Your family, your welcome

What would you like your child to hear about this day in years to come?

Tell me your ideas, your traditions and the people you would love to involve. Ask any questions you like.
